Astoria Horror “Ogre” Club presents a showing of Shrek in benefit of Children In Conflict. This is a family friendly event where singing, quoting and costumes are all encouraged. A donation of $10 is recommended and all proceeds go to Children in Crisis.

There will be a specialty Basil Gimlet available for the event and a portion of each sold will go to Children in Conflict.

Santiago Rodriguez Unveils Retrospective Art Show at Focal Point Brewery

Long Island City, Queens, NYC — Colombian-born artist Santiago Rodriguez is thrilled to announce his upcoming retrospective art show, in collaboration with Focal Point Brewery, scheduled to commence on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 8:00 PM. This exhibition will showcase Rodriguez's artwork, spanning over two decades of creative exploration.

Renowned for his mastery of Roman-style mosaics, Rodriguez's passion for this ancient art form has propelled him on a remarkable artistic journey. Despite his formal education in photography and international marketing, Rodriguez's heart lies in the intricate craftsmanship of mosaics, particularly those craTed with materials sourced from the glass furnaces of Murano, Italy.

A former proprietor of bars and restaurants, Rodriguez discovered his true calling in the realm of mosaic artistry. Using recycled skateboards and snowboards as his canvas, Rodriguez has skillfully crafted stunning portraits that captivate viewers with their depth and intricacy. Rodriguez honed his craft under the guidance of master mosaicist Luciana NoWuni in Ravenna, Italy — the esteemed city renowned for its rich mosaic heritage.

Over the past two decades, Rodriguez has showcased his mesmerizing crea:ons primarily to private collectors through his former restaurant-gallery in San Francisco.

Now, in partnership with Focal Point Brewery and its newly expanded taproom, Rodriguez is delighted to unveil his expansive body of work to a wider audience. This art show marks the brewery's inaugural venture into the realm of visual arts.

The exhibition will run from February 24 to June 30, 2024, at Focal Point Brewery, located at 43-50 12th Street, Long Island City, Queens, NYC. An exclusive Exhibition Opening Party is scheduled for Saturday, June 24, 2024, at 8:00 PM.
